‘Horrific’ Crime Scene: Young Child Found Dead in Public Parking Lot

PANORAMA CITY — A tragic investigation is underway after the body of a young child, estimated to be between 3 and 4 years old, was found near a set of dumpsters early Saturday morning, July 12, in a commercial parking lot located in the 8200 block of Van Nuys Boulevard.

Officers from the LAPD’s Mission Division were called to the scene around 7 a.m., where they discovered the child unresponsive. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet confirmed the boy’s identity, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Community in Mourning as Investigation Continues

Detectives from the Juvenile Division’s Abused Child Unit are leading the investigation. They have been canvassing the area, searching for witnesses and reviewing nearby surveillance footage in hopes of gathering crucial information.

In response to the devastating discovery, local residents came together over the weekend to honor the young boy’s life with a heartfelt vigil. Among those deeply affected was Christian Sanchez, who runs a banquet hall close to where the body was found. He expressed sorrow and disbelief over the loss of such a young life in his community.
