ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A group of forward-thinking Albuquerque teenagers is making a powerful impact on their community by helping students from underrepresented backgrounds succeed in school and beyond.
In 2025, high school students Kayden, Ahana, and Thy launched an initiative called MOZAIC, aimed at bridging educational opportunity gaps for promising students who face socioeconomic barriers. Their mission: to ensure that all students, regardless of background, have access to tools and support that prepare them for success in secondary education and future careers.
MOZAIC offers a comprehensive support system that includes academic tutoring, leadership training, college preparation, and one-on-one help with selecting schools, navigating applications, and understanding financial aid options.

Beyond academics, the program connects participants—called MOZAIC Scholars—with mentors and builds a strong peer support community. That guidance doesn’t stop after middle school. MOZAIC continues to assist students through the first semester of their high school journey.
The teen founders recently shared their vision and experiences in a community spotlight segment, showcasing how youth-led efforts are driving meaningful change in Albuquerque.
