NORTH EAST, Md. — A Maryland community is mourning the tragic and deeply unsettling death of 3-year-old Nola Dinkins, whose body was found wrapped in plastic and hidden inside a suitcase. Her mother, Darrian Randle, and her mother’s boyfriend, Cedrick Antoine Britten, are now facing serious criminal charges related to her death.
Timeline of Events
The case began on June 10 when Randle reported Nola missing, claiming she had been kidnapped, prompting an immediate Amber Alert. Maryland State Police visited the residence the next day, where they encountered Britten. Suspicious circumstances quickly unraveled into a deeper investigation.
Authorities eventually discovered Nola’s remains in a vacant lot. According to investigators, the little girl’s body showed signs of severe malnutrition. She had been tightly wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in a suitcase, which was later abandoned near the couple’s home.
Disturbing Allegations
Court filings allege that Randle violently assaulted Nola on June 9, leaving her unresponsive. Instead of seeking help, Randle and Britten are accused of driving around with the child’s body before returning home and ultimately concealing her remains in a suitcase at the base of a staircase.
Criminal Charges Filed
Randle now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and child abuse leading to death. Britten has been charged as an accessory, accused of helping cover up the crime and failing to notify authorities. Both remain in custody while the investigation continues.
