BENT, N.M. — A small aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing Saturday afternoon, August 2, along U.S. Highway 70, roughly 20 miles west of Ruidoso, according to Otero County officials.
The single-engine Beechcraft plane encountered mechanical issues while in flight shortly after taking off from Ruidoso, prompting the pilot to bring it down safely near the community of Bent, emergency services director Matt Clark confirmed.
Despite the unexpected landing, no injuries were reported, and the aircraft itself appeared to have sustained no damage during the maneuver. Clark noted that the pilot executed the landing without incident.
