White Sands Mall Scene of Police-Involved Shooting in Alamogordo

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — A shelter-in-place was issued Thursday night, August 29, following a police-involved shooting near White Sands Mall, according to New Mexico State Police.

The incident, which involved officers from the Las Cruces Police Department, took place in the vicinity of the shopping center. State Police confirmed they are actively investigating the shooting and said further details will be released as the investigation progresses.

The Tularosa Basin Regional Dispatch Authority reported that the shelter-in-place order was issued at 9:39 p.m., impacting the area from the fairgrounds to the Taco Bell on North White Sands Boulevard.
