1 Dead in Northeast Albuquerque After Officer-Involved Shooting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A man was shot and killed by Albuquerque police after reportedly opening fire on officers Monday afternoon.

The incident took place shortly before 3 p.m. in the area of Menaul Boulevard and Tramway Boulevard. According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the suspect — identified as Martin Hernandez — exchanged gunfire with officers. Police returned fire, fatally striking Hernandez at the scene.

Authorities have not reported any injuries to officers involved. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
