AFR, APD Respond to House Fire in Northeast Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Firefighters and police responded to a structure fire late Thursday afternoon in northeast Albuquerque, where crews were able to bring the blaze under control in under 10 minutes.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) units were called out around 4:15 p.m. to the 200 block of Tennessee Street NE after receiving reports of a possible fire at a residence. Upon arrival, responders observed light smoke emerging from the structure.

Although initial reports indicated someone might be trapped inside, a search of the building confirmed it was unoccupied. Firefighters successfully extinguished the flames within nine minutes of arriving on scene.

Albuquerque Police Department officers were also on-site to assist AFR in evacuating nearby residents and ensuring safety in the area. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
