Albuquerque Police Solve 82% of Homicide Cases in 2025

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) shared updated crime statistics on Monday, highlighting major progress in solving homicide cases throughout 2025.

According to APD, detectives have either arrested or filed charges against 42 individuals linked to murder cases reported this year—accounting for 82% of 2025’s total homicides. The department also noted that 17 older homicide cases, dating back to previous years, have been successfully resolved since January.

Officials reported another encouraging trend—a significant decline in violent crime. The number of homicides so far in 2025 has dropped by 43% when compared to the same period in 2022.

APD also stated that its homicide clearance rate has consistently outperformed the national average over the past four years.
