Former Vice President Kamala Harris is set to publish a new book this fall, offering a candid account of her short-lived but historic presidential campaign. Titled 107 Days, the memoir will be released by Simon & Schuster on September 23.
In a social media post announcing the book, Harris said, “What the world saw on the campaign trail was only part of the story.” The book promises an intimate look behind the curtain of what became the briefest presidential run in modern political history.
“I’ve written this book to share the lessons, the struggles, and the resilience behind the scenes,” Harris explained in a video message. “One thing became clear to me in writing it: progress doesn’t always come quickly—sometimes, the fight takes time.”
Following her electoral defeat to President Donald Trump, Harris has maintained a low public profile, focusing on private strategy discussions with her closest advisors as she weighs her next move in national politics.
The timing of the book’s announcement is notable—it came just one day after Harris confirmed she will not pursue a run for California governor in 2026. While this decision has fueled speculation about a possible 2028 presidential bid, her team says she has not made any final decisions about her future candidacy.

Harris had been widely seen as a leading contender for the governorship, with other Democrats like former Rep. Katie Porter, ex-Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra also viewed as potential candidates. Despite strong name recognition and broad support, Harris also faced skepticism from some California Democrats worried about lingering concerns from her past presidential campaign and how her candidacy might impact the party’s chances in swing House districts across the state.
The former vice president made history as the first woman—and the first Black and South Asian American—to hold the nation’s second-highest office. 107 Days will be her third book, following her 2019 memoir The Truths We Hold: An American Journey and her children’s book Superheroes Are Everywhere.
While the future of her political career remains uncertain, 107 Days is expected to reintroduce Harris to the national conversation—and offer key insights into both the challenges she faced and the lessons she learned.
