Residents across the county have an opportunity to gain valuable skills in recognizing and responding to mental health and substance use challenges — at no cost. An 8-hour certification program, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), is being offered throughout the region to help participants better understand and support those facing mental health or addiction issues.
One of the courses, Youth Mental Health First Aid, is specifically tailored for adults who regularly work with or support teenagers aged 12 to 18. This includes teachers, coaches, counselors, and youth group leaders. The training prepares participants to assist adolescents in both crisis situations and everyday struggles with mental health.
