A Wall Township resident has admitted to committing an armed bank robbery in October 2024, during which he threatened a bank employee with a loaded gun and escaped with tens of thousands in cash, according to U.S. Attorney Alina Habba.
Jeffrey L. Kniffin, 51, pleaded guilty on July 22, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi in Trenton federal court. He faces sentencing later this year on a charge of armed bank robbery.
Details of the Robbery
Prosecutors say Kniffin walked into a Wall Township bank on October 23, 2024, carrying a loaded handgun. He approached the counter, issued threats to the teller, and demanded cash while displaying the weapon. Repeatedly warning the teller not to “do anything stupid,” Kniffin made off with $27,072.
Police responded swiftly and captured him just minutes after the heist. Officers recovered the firearm and over $25,000 in cash either from Kniffin or nearby.
