Teen Arrested, Charged with Murder After Alamogordo Park Incident

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — A shooting at a local park Friday afternoon left one person dead and two others wounded, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Alamogordo Police Department.

Police responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Charlotte Street and Oregon Avenue shortly before 3:45 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered one individual suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene. Shortly after, two additional victims arrived separately at a local hospital with injuries connected to the same incident.

Authorities have since arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with the shooting. He now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, and larceny of a firearm, among others.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the violence and have not released the names of the victims or suspect due to the ongoing nature of the case and the suspect’s age.
