ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — While fans around the world remember Ozzy Osbourne for his legendary contributions to rock music, the city of Alamogordo holds a unique and personal connection to the iconic performer.
In 2018, Osbourne visited Alamogordo while filming an episode of his A&E series Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour, alongside his children Jack and Kelly. The family’s experience in the city left such an impression that Ozzy decided to join the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce.
“Ozzy Osbourne, welcome to the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce,” the Chamber wrote in a March 2018 social media post. A photo of Osbourne smiling with the Chamber’s executive director marked the moment, symbolizing his appreciation for the warm reception he received in the community.

On Tuesday, Osbourne passed away at the age of 76. Just weeks earlier, he headlined a hometown music festival—an emotional celebration designed as a send-off for the rock legend. Fellow artists, fans, and fellow “rock royalty” gathered to honor Osbourne’s legacy in what would become his final public performance.
For the city of Alamogordo, Ozzy Osbourne wasn’t just a global superstar—he was briefly one of their own.
